Question is wideband really necessary???

i only plan to run at the most all of 24 psi out of a stock turbo, im going to have a center console upper gauges pod with boost, oil press. and oil temp, or EGT if thats better then one of those two, and if you really have to have wideband to be safe then i was thinking of putting it on my steering coluum or something, but do you need it, i dont really want anymore gauges and i dont want to have 2 of ones color and another a completely diff look. thanks for the advice

EDIT: prolly 22 psi, untill i get my IC, LICP, and cams

wideband is very good, but is not really necessary unless you are very modified...same with an EGT.

but if I were going to have one or the other I would have a Wideband 02 before i had a EGT. they compliment each other, but EGT is kinda useless with out the 02.

so with the mods in my sig, i should be fine with just the 3, boost, oil press and temp. or should i just suck it up and put wideband in the middle and have the 2 defis on the outsides of it, or put a steering coluum pod so it doesnt look dumb

honestly its completely up to you. the only gauge you "really" need is a boost gauge. oil pressure is great, i want one, esp if you change your own oil and just good to keep an eye on. if i had the money, i would def invest in a wideband just to have. great to know if your running lean or rich and will only come in more useful as the mod list grows. a buddy of mine has the 3 gauges, 2 of the same on the outside with the wideband in the middle and it looks fine. if it purposeful, it will never look dumb unless you do not know what your looking at.

id say if you can afford it, get it.

get a boost gauge and wideband. 2 most important gauges. then do oil pressure or oil temp next.

yeah the oil stuff not to important with our cars... especially if your not tracking it. the main ones you really want is boost and AF.

oil pressure would by my next choice...

also i never heard of anyone having OIL temp issues before...our cars come with an oil cooler from the factory.

3 most important gauges in order of importance IMO are:

1. Boost
2. Wideband
3. Oil pressure

They are getting pretty cheep, with tons of face options, and you can find a place to put it out of sight. I got the AEM one when they first came out for almost $500 when I sprayed my Honda and I thought is was worth it then at that price. If you don't like it, ebay it.

I would say yes, probably the second most important to the boost.. but thats just my opinion.

And it makes it easier for your tuner.

Would one of those Glow Shift AFR gauges be good?
IDK if its a wideband or not, but you can get 3 of their gauges + a pillar for like 110 bucks..
So I might go Booost, AFR, and Oil Pres.

I would leave out the oil temp and get the wideband if I were you.
