Shipping an Evo

I was wondering if anyone had bought a used evo and had it shipped from another state. If so, were there any problems or issues? How much did it cost? How long did it take?

Any replies will be much appreciated.

I had mine shipped from CA. They covered the shipping and said it cost them around $650. I can't remember the company they used, but they picked it up from the dealership on a Friday and it arrived at my house in TX on Monday.

If the dealer had not covered the shipping, I was going to go with DAS Dependable Auto Shippers. I was quoted around $500 by them but it was going to take 10 days to ship. They have several options to chose from though.

I used DAS to ship my car as well. They did a great job and would use them again.

thanks guys. I was unsure of how the process worked so I wanted to get a little more knowledge about it before possibly doing it.

If you haven't already, I would recommend that you get a Pre-Purchase Inspection on the car if you're not able to see it in person before you buy it. I used CarChex (same people who do CarFax vehicle reports). The only problem that I had with them is that the inspection is almost purely cosmetic. They do drive the car for a few miles and listen for any odd noises and make sure it drives correctly, but they don't do a mechanical inspection at all.

Most shipping companies, farm out the actual shipping to the lowest bidder, DAS included. Most of the time it works out, but sometimes their are horror stories.

If you want your car to not be driven/move once its loaded on the carrier, you will need to yuse one of the name brand carrier, such as Intercity, Horseless Carriage, etc. Just look who ships for major car shows. It will cost more though.
