Almost about to pull the trigger>>>>

I am about to purchase a new 08 X. I am curious is there are any issues I should know about before I buy. The first year of a model scares me..
Thanks for your help.

find a way to protect the paint issue. Either get mud flaps or ad those plastic protection pieces or get one withaero kit. but Aerokits are a hassle to get in and out of the car and they can get damage easily.

Lol I kick my side skirt every time I get out of my car! I will say, I just bought mine and so far I have no regrets. It is a great car and is a lot of fun to drive.

+1 I think the fun easily outweighs the bugs. Good luck!

I am so happy to be back on an Evo! I have been cleaning, waxing, wheel polishing, removing sticker goo, etc.

I am going to get mud flaps on it ASAP to protect the paint.

Everytime I hit the gas, this whistling sound happens and the car goes really fast all of the sudden. I don't know what to do, the dealer says it's normal.

You added whistle-tips to the exhaust so that the whistles go woooo?

I've read over and over that only mud flaps or aero kit (or similar kit) will help with the rock chipping issue. Supposedly people with clear bra in front of the rear fenders and other hot-spots is not actually helping as much as they'd like. Haven't seen many complaints from those with mud flaps or aero kit (and those with aero kit complain about it lookin crappy, side-skirts falling off, or easily damaged side-skirts).

I have SSS and aero, but haven't had a problem with the rock chipping (guess I'm lucky). I have had to replace both side skirts already though.

I have had the clear bra since the 3rd day I got my car and it's the best thing to get if you have the $$$ to spend. At the minimum get the basic deal (front bumper, 1/3 of the hood, 1/3 of the front fender, the entire side skirt, and the areas behind the wheels).

I also had mudflaps since the first week of owning the car, and honestly they don't do squat. Unless you take your car rallying or just like the looks, don't spend that money.
