evo x vs. audi a4
evo x vs. audi a4
ive been drooling over the x and im really close on pulling the trigger on a white gsr, but they have these new 2009 2.0 t manual a4's sitting there with their lsd headlights and beautiful interior/exteriors, completely different cars of course, but does anyone feel that they rather pay the extra 2g's to get a luxurious kinda sporty car instead of an x. or are audi's for poofs lol. give me some advice, again i know they are completely two different genre of cars.
No comparison. Their V6 is rated at 3.2L/265-hp/243-lb-ft DOHC 24-valve V-6. The 2.0T is at 211-hp.
If you want luxury, get the A4. If you want performance, get the X.
If you want luxury, get the A4. If you want performance, get the X.

Audi's are beautiful cars, my wife had one. If you plan on keeping it no longer than 4 years (or is it 3?), while it has the free maintenance, it's OK. But, the day after the warranty expires something expensive will break or it will need major service which will cost you a fortune. Murphy's Law.
Sorry man, the only thing these cars have in common is 4 doors and AWD.
My last car was a '97 "S6 Plus"--a limited edition Euro-only S6 with a 326-hp 4.2 V-8, Recaro interior, and a 6-speed manual. It was a powerful car, and it would go from 0-60 in about 5.4 seconds and I reached speeds on the Autobahn in excess of 160 mph. It also understeered through corners like a penguin on roller skates.
Audis are known for their world class interiors, so if comfort and convenience are your priorities, get an Audi. Evos are known for their performance and handling, so if those are your priorities, get an Evo.
Even the RS4, a full-out sport sedan which is two levels up and twice the cost of the base A4 or and Evo, has a understeer-inducing weight distribution of 58.3/41.7 and only a .89 on the skidpad, so is no match for the Evo in the twisties and isn't that much faster in a straight line despite its infamous 420 hp 4.2 V-8.
One of my best buddies has a Euro-spec 2001 RS4 with the twin-turbo V6 and the only way he can get it to rotate at all is using the parking brake...very safe, but not much fun. On the other hand, he drives business clients and his parents in it with maximum comfort, and has massive space for luggage and whatnot, so it depends on what your priorities are

I'd get a A4/S4 if they didn't break down all the damn time. My friend has a 600whp beast and his friends have some ~250-300 hp ones and they are ALWAYS in the garage working on them. They break down all the damn time. Their turbos go bad a lot for some reason, even when they don't gas it. Need to replace the turbo? Well that means you have to take the entire freaken engine out. Nice cars but I don't have a wallet for a car like that. Evo has been good to me so far but I know it's not the most depenable car on the planet being that it's a Turbo AWD car and has more that can break but I'll deal with it since it's such a sweet car :P

hey man, it completely depends on what your looking for. The car I had before my evo was a 2000 A6 2.7T with a 6 speed. man i loved that car, super clean, low profile, classy and fast. dropped a ton of money into her and it hauled. People would always comment on me having a nice car, and got different looks from a different crowd. no scoffs or ricer punk kid comments in an audi. extremely comfortable, easy to drive, and lots of room.
but like everyone else said, one they break, they break bad. I had close to 90,000 mile on mine, even tho it looked brand new. I had turbos fail, synchros go out, abs, water pump etc. and every single one seemed to be 2 grand to fix, 2 grand to fix, except syncros which were even more. and like someone said i couldnt get that car to rotate at all. you can def make them fast and handle well, but it will cost you two to three times as much as the evo, never handle as well, and void the warranty which unlike the evo (try to void it as soon as you drive it off the lot), you need that free service.
but again, two completely different cars. performance, luxury, convenience, class: go audi. all out performance, handling, value: go evo
gl with w.e you decide to do!
