Octane Booster

is it safe to run octane boosters on an evo? especially the X?reason why i ask is because on my previous car ive notice that octane booster, of course increase octane, but smooths out the acceleration, mileage increase etc.

Those don't do anything. Put in high test gas...ew sorry CA...91. Can splash with racing gas.

They typically raise the octane .3 points. So 91.3...that feeling you had was a placebo effect.

+1 they do nothing, in fact I saw a video on youtube about some lab testing some of those and you wouldn't believe it, the usage of such "boosters" actually made the engines lose some power (I don't remember what video it was, but you can type "octane booster test" or something like that, see if you can find the video)

Boost with a little Toluene! Or as Smike said - race gas.

I'm not aware of any 110 Octane petrol that isn't leaded so Yes, it will damage your cars oxygen sensors and catalytic converter.

Stick with "Race Gas" that is unleaded. Some get into the 101-105 Octane rating (but might not be legal in California for street use). Iirc VP makes a 101 (RON) petrol that is Ca street legal.

The only one that does anything notable to the octane is the Torco Accelerator. However it's pretty expensive and leaves a nasty orange residue on everything. Although it increases octane which will allow you to run more boost it's not the same as running race gas as it doesnt add any energy to the gasoline.

You can't just fill a car that's tuned for 91/93 with e85. To run e85 he would need a fuel pump, upgraded injectors, and a tune.
