reflash? stall?
reflash? stall?
I am hoping people don't kill me for asking such a noob question. But I only drove Taurus for 6 years *cough* so I am still not sure with all the terms going on in the forum and I couldn't find information I was looking for. I would like to apologize first if there is a thread about this already.
But I ran into a thread about reflashing and stalling. So what is reflashing and do you have to reflash when you stall alot?

Which car are you referring too? If it's an Evo X and the stalling issue, I believe there's a separate thread on this. Basically, the "flashing" relates to the loading a software update into the vehicles ECU thus correcting the issue. Kind of common on all cars. Must be running a Windows OS

I just wanted to be more familiar with the terms before I go out and buy X within a month or so. Too bad I have mac
Link to the thread:
Stalling and re-flashing the engine's ECU have little to do with one another, unless the re-flash is set up incorrectly. Re-flashing refers to copying a new set of instructions to the car's computer "brain".

More like Linux... Updating the drivers to make the hardware work
Or waiting and waiting and waiting for a release of updates for drivers
But yes, flashing is just a term used for what happens when the memory on the ECU is overwritten by new information. Used for tuning, or fixing other problems, or doing other things even...
