Hello evom!

What's up evom! Very new here so feel free to laugh at the newbie.. no hard feelings

anyway, my story so far. 19, college at boston university. from long island, ny. never owned my own car. safe driver (i like telling myself that - but no really, i don't do street races). and so, i'm looking to get a used evo 8/9 at the end of next year. as for funds, i have about 10k saved up, i don't like financing things so i usually save up for the full ticket price.

so i have a few quick questions

1) what kind of insurance rate would you say i could get by the time i'm 20? i haven't gotten any tickets, ever, excellent credit (750+ credit score), i'm looking for full coverage.

2) what's your opinion on getting a salvage title car and having it rebuilt/modded/tuned?

cheers!

Insurance rates vary greatly. It's not just based on your age/driving history/credit score. You could take a look at https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...per-merge.html to get an idea though.

I hope you are registering the car in Boston. Bostonians aren't too fond of NY plates. Don't be surprised if you find your car vandalized if you show anything with NY on it.

either your on your parents insurance or your car is salvaged. Rates dont drop low till your 25. I pay 137 full coverage for my 03 evo clean title on my own insurance plan. When i wanted a evo i thought about going the salvage route and it was 117 insured before i was 25. Could not really find a good evo that was salvaged. Now before i was 25 it was 330 for full coverage and my parents said your not putting a evo under my name. thats why i waited till last year to get one when i had my 25 birthday

hmm, yea my parents probably won't approve of an evo under their name :P I'm definitely going to register the plate in Mass, the insurance rate where i live at home is insane (auto, home, property, etc)

wait so salvaged insurance is cheaper? i know salvaged cars don't have much of a resale value, but i'm planning to keep this until the day the wheels fall off.
