factory gauge option

Also, the guages are very good quality, just poor location. My boost reads pretty much right and also the vacuum reading is right on. the boost reads in Bar though.

then again...I've been wrong before.
i think i want to get it just because it is a genuine mitsu option, and i would like to be able to see the boost and i guess the oil is somewhat helpful also... my dealer was charging some ridiculous price though... i think the guy said around $750, but i won't pay that... i'll see if i can get it for less.
I was thinking about the dealer guage option, but didnt want the boost or voltage. Oil temp is very good, but I needed EGT and Water Temp also. EGT for tunin' and water temp for when yer one the dyno!
I'm gonna get one when I purchase mine.
Just going to relocate the boost to a more eye-friendly place, and place an egt gauge in it's spot.
And I like the idea of switching the whole panel with the Stereo.
Plus it's OEM so the quality has to be good right? Although I'm still weary about trusting Mitsu....
I'm going to try and have them throw it in for next to nothing when I purchase it. Anyone have any luck with that?

i think the factory gauge package is totally lame...
i'd like to do a custom pod simliar to the 350Z on the dash... but it would have to look totally stock...
but there aren't any custom shops in my area...
some of your Cali, Florida guys need to work on this...

Did anyone else notice that these gauges are EXACTLY the same ones used by Subaru, optional on the WRX? The only difference is that the Subaru ones have "JAMCO" (LAMCO? or something like that) printed on the center, and the Mitsu ones have their logo. Otherwise, they're the same junk.
I say junk because I had them on my WRX. The voltage gauge died (stuck floating around 9.5V until I replaced it). The oil temp gauge died twice -- the first time, it would stick at the bottom after startup, then tapping it hard would unstick it until I parked overnight again. The second time it just hovered in the low end of the range and wasn't reading right. When I sold the car, the third oil temp gauge was starting the sticking think again (THUMP!). I got the option thinking it'd be neat to see the oil temp, but was a total waste of money. I'd avoid these completely. You can get really nice aftermarket stuff for a lot less.

I didn't do any testing to confirm accuracy (when not broken). I agree that they were too small though. Plus, the boost gauge didn't light up half as bright as the other two (or the rest of the dash). Also, having a boost gauge in MPa units instead of psi is just a plain hassle.
The stock tach and speedo are enough junk for me. Why would a correctly installed set of gauges be an issue with your dealer?..ours cars have that near useless opening under the radio.. you know the one that everything spills out of.. I have seen it used as location for a real head unit. That set up allows room for a nice set of gauges in the stock radio's hole. we need a vendor to make a full set up panel that will accomodate standard size gauges so we can dump the cheesy factory set up altogether.. the tack is in the right place and is the only thing I use other than the really lousy gas gauge (the increments are useless, even full and empty are off a gallon or so). Oh well..with these cars I guess we don't really look at the gauges much any way. I hear that whistle turn into a whine and feel her spoolin.
