Used evo 9, what to look for?
Hey all,
Seriously considering buying a used evo 9 I went to see yesterday, but would like the benefit of your experience in knowing what to look for.
There's a twist to this tho, in that I'm an ex-pat in Shanghai. Evo 9's are not common in China, so I will have to take this one or probably wait several months to find another one. I considered a new Hyundai Genesis 3.8 too, but I don't think it even comes close performance-wise.
Car looked ok, just needs a clean on the outside, didn't hear anything strange from the engine. It has had two previous owners, but both of them seem to have serviced it very regularly. (every 2000-3000 miles) They've never changed the transmission fluid tho, is that necessary after about 20k miles?
Don't think any of the engine bay parts have been changed or tampered with, but I did notice the semi-circular cover in front of the engine itself is quite rusty. Is that common?
Anyone know of anything else I should really look out for?
Thanks!

i wouldnt worry about the tranny fluid, but if you do get it just do it yourself when you change the oil, and if you are talking about the exhaust manifold heat shield having rust that is nothing to worry about either.. i took mine off but you can sand it down and paint it with some high temp paint if you want it to look clean
