should I tune?

Well hello everyone, I just joined evolutionm.net because I just purchased a evo! I have some questions. I purchased the evo down in San Diego, and I live in reno nevada. The guy said the mods on it are : 272 cams, arp head studs, sard bov, tomei exhaust manifold, tomei 02 housing, tomei down pipe, megan cat back exhaust a turbo timer and a air filter.

It idles, rough I suppose it is because of the aftermarket cams? also should I get it tuned locally for this altitude?

let me know!

thanks a lot in advance!

as long as it doesnt bog out then i wouldnt suggest you tuning until you get other supporting mods.

I would definitely get it tuned. If it doesn't have the correct tune right now it could possibly damage the motor.

well all he is stating is a rough idle, any car can have a rough idle and tune be ok. It all depends on the way the cams were timed.

i dont see the rush in having to go tune just for an idle. Now if it were something else on top of that then i would say tune asap

He just bought a modded Evo and drove it to an alternate altitude. Who knows what was taken off the car before it was sold, or how well-optimized and safe the tune was to begin with. Hell, he doesn't know if the motor is knocking to high heaven. It's dumb not to have the car checked out.

Edit: BTW, this isn't about who's right or wrong. This is about helping a fellow Evo owner not lose his purchase to a blown motor.

Well if you had one you could see where your air/fuel is at and give you some indication of the tune you have.
