o2 placement question...

Hey guys and gals! I'm going to get a downpipe and testpipe tonight and was wondering if I get a testpipe without the o2 bung, will it be good to place the o2 on the catback's o2 instead of the cat? I have a IX so the o2 is placed on the cat. Lmk! Thanks!

It shouldn't throw any codes and cause me trouble right?

not at all, just as long as its in the cat or behind it you should be fine, thats exactly how mine is placed and has been placed for the past 4 or 5 years.

You'll probably get a P0420 code if you slip on the test pipe. You can either get 1) The cheap CEL anti fouler fix that you put in the bung and your O2 sensor screws on it or 2) Have your local tuner disable the 420 code.

Also, it would be wise to put a bung on the downpipe for future wideband tuning.

yup forgot to mention as the above said, all you need is a mechanical check engine light fix and you should be good.

I got one already. It came with the Perrin catback I bought. And yes, I might consider getting a bung on the dp. Thanks guys!

+1 to these suggestions. You'll probably need some kind of fix to avoid the CEL, but that's pretty simple.

I'd also really recommend getting the bung welded on the downpipe now. It'll save you a lot of trouble down the road when you want to do wideband tuning (which you will).
