I think you need to do more research and drive both cars if you can. Based on what you want out of the car you will be able to make your own decision. There are plenty of comparisons and match ups out there.

You should look into the Evo 9 MR Special Edition JDM Deluxe Package. It's the rarest Evo of them all.

there really different cars. remember if you get a evo 9 you might have some minor issues to fix up also it will be cheaper then evo X MR. the evo X you can get a new one with no abuse for sure or get a lightly used 08 edition. The question really is how much money are you planning on spending on this project and projected whp you want to gain.

get the one that you like the best, researching cars better will make things much easier for you instead of having everything spoon fed to you. i would not mod the car at all to begin with because it is a fast car from the factory. you will have plenty of idiots such as those who have posted here already tell you to waste your money to mod when you might not be able to handle the stock power, let alone one that has 350-500whp

A lot of people run their evos on 91 octane, because that's all they have access to. Obviously 93 octane would be ideal, but 91 will do the job.
