New EvoX owner here
Hi everyone. My names Jeremy and I live out in Billings, MT. I just went down to California to pick up a 2010 Evo X MR. I have the Aero kit, the Sport interior package, and a few other accessories. Of course, I have a couple questions but I will search around before I throw them out, but I allready have a few that I haven't found answers so far... I traded in a mildly modified/tuned UV blue 2005 Eclipse Spyder GT. I'm sure I will miss the convertible from time to time but I wanted something that was special, fast, full of technology, and all wheel drive (makes sense in Montana
). To my knowledge, there are not many Evo's in this town, let alone X's- Maybe 4 or 5 X's in town and I know for now that I have the only red one and possibly the only 2010 but I am not sure.
As I said, I have a few questions and I'll ask them here but if anyone thinks I should ask anyone in particular or post them elsewhere, please let me know.
1- I know that the 2010's have an ECU reflash that shows a bit more whp than the 08's did from the factory, and that it also leaned the cars out a bit. I just ordered a WORKS drop in filter to see if I can get a few more hp/mpg out of the car and though I'm sure that a drop in was more beneficial for the 08's and their rich tune what kind of gains I can expect from it and whether or not the HKS tune with the Cobb Accessport will work safely with it.
2- I am allready looking at tires to replace the factory ADVANS. I do much more acceleration in a straight line than any kind of tracking, but because it's an Evo, I would still like to retain good handling capabilities. I would like to pick up my next set for between $550-$600 and was wondering if anyone had opinions on either the Falken FK-452's or the Hankook Ventus Evo V12's on this platform.
3- The Rockford Fosgate system was upgraded to 710W peak power but it still seems quieter than it should. I understand from what I have read that the factory amp is the weak link. Can anyone recommend a specific amp or necessary parts that would work well without requiring upgrading the speakers ? I would like to stick with either RF or Kicker and get something no more than $350-$500 range. What are my options here ?
I thank you guys for your help and again, please let me know if I should repost these questions elsewhere to get the best/fastest responses.
Take care.
Jeremy
