Overboost code on stock boost?

I recently replaced my stock intercooler with an ebay intercooler and before any of that I have regular performance bolt ons including turbo back exhaust, k&n filter, aem boost controller, act street clutch & flywheel, and walhbro 255lph fuel pump which it ran fine with. Now with the intercooler on the car at stock boost setting @ 20psi the car back fires and is pretty scary hitting close to or at redline. I'm scared to to go above 5k rpms because of that reason. I don't have a tune on the car yet but I'm planning on tuning it after I get a set of kelford 272's since I would have to re-tune the car again once I get the cams. Pls help since this problem is driving me crazy. Thanks BTW i have a 06 MR

Keep it up and you won't need a tune, because the motor will be in pieces.Stay out of boost until you tune the car.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I didnt think with those mods it would affect the mixture as drastic as it does, apparantly I was wrong. I'm gonna go ahead and shell out the money for the cams and tune now so my motor doesnt become a storage container for steel.
