Okay, my car is predominately a daily driven car/occasional show. i have an AEM CAI, custom cat-back with 2.25" piping with a maganaflow glass-pack in place of that restrictive resonator and a 4" straight-through can. Also, i have some denso Iridium IK22 spark plugs. the power is good around 4K and up, but anything below it just blows big donkey
!! what should i do next that should give me car an increase in low end torgue and HP without alot of $$$?? i don't want turbo or anything x-treme. please voice your ideas and give a reason why its a good road to take. thanks!!
RRM Headers?
RRM reflash?
Magnacore plug wires?
Over bored throttle body?
Test pipe?
EVO 8 engine swap??? (hahahah...keep dreaming!!)
ALSO!!!...my gas mileage sucks too. i use to get 320 to the tank with some bosch platinum and Short ram intake...but now, i get 250 if im lucky and don't have a lead foot that week. anything i can do to up my mileage???
your using ik22 plugs? i may be mistaken, but im pretty sure the lancer uses ik16, i woudl advise spark plug wires just bc have excellant spark all the time is awesome, the reflash will be good if they will sell you the last one they have
Too bad RRM discontinued reflash. I believe the one they have left is for a turbo lancer though. Reflash added most of all aftermarket parts for me. Really pulled everything together.

are you sure it's a reflash? if its some sort of box with a toggle switch of sorts, that ain't a reflash. it would be some sort of piggyback box in which values to the stock ecu are changed in an effort to "improve performance". a reflash would reprogram the eprom in the ecu and for it to revert back to the old ecu program you would have to have separate hardware to erase the old modded eprom and put back the stock program.

Yeah, unfortunately the best mod to improve the low end with your mods would be the reflash, if you can find one. Otherwise, try the throttle body. But I would not do the header or testpipe/high flow cat, as those will give you more high end and make your low end even worse.
I'd get the RPW race headers (cheaper than the RRM, they're tuned for our NA engines AND the tubing is so long it replaces the DP). Put the cat back. NA engines don't like being "wide open" like turbos. 2.25" piping should be fine- the narrow tubing helps to "suck" the exhaust out of the engine.
Put your hands on eManage and support cable and you'll have power and torque for DAYS. Sure, it needs to be tuned by you, but you'll have all kinds of control. I get mad power starting at about 2000K (I'm chirping tires in this RPM range in both 1st and 2nd). All I've had time to do is reset the 5 parameters to different RPM points and then set those to slightly lean (5% is the most I've leaned her out, that's at 5300K). Keep an eye our for the eManage tuning forum. There's one in the Evo section and we're bugging Mark to do one for Lancers, too.
Do some reading about the iridium and find out if they're REALLY what you want to be spending your money on if you're staying NA. I can replace my NGK copper plugs 4 times a year for less than the retail on one set of iridium plugs. Plus on a low compression 4 cyl engine iridium doesn't do anything, as far as I can tell. The platinum plugs just last longer than the coppers, but I'm ridiculous and change my plugs every other oil change, unless they look almost new.
Good luck dude!
