Long time reader, first time poster.

I got my evo 8 about 6 months ago and have been using this site for info for awhile.

I have a problem with a high rpm misfire(in between 5k-6k) after installing 3"ebay exhaust, test pipe and a cone air filter.
Will the stock tune be able to compensate for the increased airflow?
My car hasn't thrown any codes so far.
I have tuning tools in route.

Thanks for any advise on this.

Absolutely not, the engine must be tuned. Do not drive it hard until its tuned or you could be replacing the engine. Also, do your self a favor and buy quality parts for your Evo.

I had the same issue...mine kept hitting either a fuel cut or a boost cut. Issue was fixed with a tune

Thanks for the quick response. I would never buy any cheap detrimental parts. On a side note the stainless steel ebay fit great and the way I was thinking is 3" is 3". I come from a honda background so maybe that was the ricer leaking through. Thanks again

Sounds like it could also be a spark problem. What plugs are you running ? I'd throw in some NGK BR7EIX if you're going to get it tuned, and it might just fix your issue.

x2. It could be the spark plugs wires or the plugs itself. Double check that before tuning. Use the OEM spark plugs NGK.
