Well, after lurking here for many months I finally took the plunge and got a red Evo last night.
Bob Baker Mitsu in Carlsbad, CA is knocking $2000 off the MSRP on the 2003 models, so I got a sweet deal AND I unloaded my 17 year-old Son's beat up Honda Civic as a bonus. He made out like a bandit, as I passed my modified 2002 Acura RSX down to him, so we both have grins from ear to ear this morning.
Over the past few months I drove 3 different Evos at the dealer and there was a noticible difference in the performance of them. I am happy to say that the red one I settled on was also the fastest of the 3. The car had 13 miles on it when I bought it and now only has 31 but I am already so hooked on it that I couldn't sleep last night.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself (Steve Fredericks, Oceanside,CA, 43, U.S. Marine) and say that I will become a regular poster here now.

 

Congratulations! Enjoy your Evo, I sure as hell am! You're not going to lose that smile for weeks! Make sure you break in your engine right, it will keep your engine strong. Mine dynoed higher then most stock cars, and I think I can attribute that to the break-in.

 

Weeks, hell it'll take you months to get that **** eatin' grin off your face, and as far as sleep... Hah! forget it, you'll just be having dreams of the real life game of Gran Turismo parked in your garage. Be safe and have fun with it man.

sweet man, congrats on the purchase. :-) watch the oil levels too as some people here have had bad luck eating oil and blowing the EVO.

 

break in with mineral oil, my Evo dynoed about 25 WHP more then other Evo(that day there was 7 evo's on the dyno)

Congrats. I'm also a RSX to Evo converter . The difference is night and day.

 

Congrats! May I suggest your next purchase be a nice alarm system and/or vehicle tracking system? I got my Evo broken into within 1 week of ownership

Forgive me for getting off topic but, Kayaalp, do you live in Canada right now and if so is your car registered and legal to drive up there?

 

Yeah, I couldn't get one up here. I bought it in the US and had it registered and plated there. I'm originally from the US and still maintain an address there, so I was was able to work it out.

Congrats. I used to get my Jeep serviced at Bob Baker in Carlsbad when I lived there. I miss San Diego oh so much. I need to win Megabucks so I can move back.
