i believe blow off valves can make all these different sorts of sounds... depends on what type of BOV it is. an Intake generally makes a loud sucking sound when u accelerate and is usually "amplified" and heard through the exhaust. In some cases an intake can overpower the sound of the exhaust. When I turn my car off I hear a sharp "pppfffff" sound from the intake... maybe that's what ur talking about.

Depends on the type of poof he is meaning... you can get the quick "poof" that's from the bov, you can get the long"poooooooffffffft" from the intake, you can get another long "poooooooofffffffttt" from the turbo spooling, or you can get the wet "ppppoooooofffft" from a fart can with rolled edges...

Explain anything?

Some time when I shift from 2nd to 3rd Gear, at about 4k RPM, I happen to fart, and often that creates a poof sound much like that of what you are probably hearing..

one or the other, do it as a test, buy a bov, as thats cheaper then the intake, try it, if it isnt it, get the intake as well

you need a turbo with the BOV to get the sound. i dont think you can get the pooofftstlksaoviualv sound without the pressure of a turbo.
