I <3 Hyundai...

...But my Girlfriend likes Mitsubishi =)

What's up everyone. Now that i got your attention...

My names Frank, nice to meet you. I'm 20 years old, im a Mobile Electronics Installer and i live on the JERSEY SHORE!..Yeah......

Anyway, I myself drive a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon GT. It's slow as f*ck so trust me, anyone on this forum would thoroughly r@pe me in a race. But, i love my car a lot; Pics below. Hope you like it!

BUT to the point.

My Girlfriend is in the market for her 2nd car. And we stumbled upon a sexy little 2008 Lancer DE with 38k miles for around $11k. I'm on here preparing and researching for her and obviously if she buys it. We both will be frequent members here. I'm very active on my Tiburon Community and i know the general ropes of Forums so no worries =) My GF is into slight modding too; still learning =).

We have about $8500 and a 2000 Hyundai Elantra in AMAZING condition with 84,000 miles on it. So that would obviously be traded in....

Pics because it happened : 2008 Lancer DE

We haven't seen it in person yet but we are going to look at it tommorow. It seems fairly legit and we're hopeful.

I researched them a bit and i did find 2 factory recalls (air-bag sensors and braking system) but that's not a problem. Those are free to fix.

What i AM wondering is...

a) Is this a good buy? I see the price is under KBB and Edmunds but hey, sometimes you find that good deal.

b) what goes wrong with these things? i know everything that will or has broken in my Tib and i'm prepared. So, what's Mitsibishi's faults?

c) Can i haz boost for my Tib????lol Hahah, i wish...

Well, anyway, thanks everyone! Any and all guidance would be amazing. I know jack sh*t about Mitsus but never really heard a bad thing about them. So, id love to learn!

Pics!

Boost? It would be more expensive to get that thing ready and buy a turbo kit than to find an 08 evo

You have never heard a bad thing about Mitsubishi's? That is all I have ever heard about Mitsu's before I bought my Evo. If you properly maintain the car I doubt anything major will go wrong.

Mitsubishi's downfall is really ****ty dealers, I have never owned a brand with worse dealerships.

Hyundai is getting better with the styling of that car with each generation.

Now if they could only do something with the performance.

Nice car, regardless.

Well, i can agree with the poor dealers. Ive dealt with a few local Mitsu dealers before and they we're a joke...But...

None of my friends really own any, so i dont have any participation or knowledge on them.

Well, we're paying $8500 and a trade....Soooo....Yeah. I just don't know :/ It REALLY isnt to much about what SHOULD be a good deal, its about reality and what this guy is charging compared to others.

Indeed they are. I still get sh*t for it.They are slow without a doubt, but i'm kinda proud to drive one now. I'm hoping to get a 3.8 GenCoupe next...Performance wise; they aren't to bad at all. And i just love the look.

But thank you,sir =)

Why not get the turbo Gen? I'm not up on Hyundai's so sorry if that was a noob question. Just seems like the turbo has more potential.

No, it makes sense. The 2.0T only pushes 210~ which is kinda...beat.

The 3.8 however has 310~ stock. So out of the box i'm already faster then most other V6's out there. But obviously i need to pay mind to the Warranty...5 years? 5 years to sit on 210hp or 310? I would LOVE to SuperCharge the 3.8 eventually and run close to 500~ with supporting mods.

Aftermarket support for all Hyundais still blow hard, but the Gen is picking up fast.

Warrantied Boost = Win

But...Nothing beats some good old Muscle =)

We'll just have to see. I've even been looking at Evo's and 370z. But who knows.
If Scion pulls off this FR-S the right way, we could have a new Supra in the world...

My 0.02c

The outside of your car looks great, the only thing missing would maybe be some nicer brakes, but it looks awesome.

I don't like the interior. I'll just leave it at that.

I didn't think about warranty coming into play. Boost > NA IMO but I see where you're coming from.

I can attest to something beating good old muscle lol, my Evo with a much smaller engine would beat the **** out of my old Mustang in all performance categories.

Don't hold your breath about there ever being another Supra. I highly doubt Toyota will put an engine in the FR-S that is even remotely close to the 2JZ.

Well, yeah. Boost is fun, no doubt. And i respect that. BUT, you also need to ackowldge, You boost a motor because it CAN'T put out the numbers a v6 or v8 can without the FI. That's what F/I does. Makes small motors just as strong as big motors.

Personally, i think NA racing ANY Boosted is unfair. Unless they are BOTH NA or Boosted, its unfair.

Could you imagine racing a 5.0 Stang with 20lbs of boost? i can't, haha

But with all that aside, Warranty is important around here. the roads are **** so **** gets f*cked up alot. Especially in the winter. i need some type of protection, haha.

And yeaaaaaaaaaah, The Supra is dead. Thank god tho. Could you IMAGINE them trying to remake it?
It would be a tragedy...

I had a boosted 02 Corvette with a 5.7 so yes I can imagine racing a boosted 5.0 Mustang lol.

Sorry to be OT, good luck with the Mitsu.
