Fresh Evo Owner with a small problem.

Just bought a 03 evo viii with a blown motor. After my brothers evo I have fallen in love with these cars, sadly its in pieces at the moment waiting for a new longblock for which I'm having a hard time finding. Any thoughts or pushes in the right direction so my new baby can run again?

What is exactly wrong with the motor that was in the car? Buying a complete long block might not even be necessary depending on current damage.

I got the oil pan off, chunks of metal came out with it, and was able to look up through the cylinder and the it's mangled, the valves appear to be also. I don't know for sure if the head is salvagable until I can take it off, but I'm pretty certain about it being shot. Does anybody know of a good trustworthy place to get a replacement.

If the head is salvageable you can get new valves, seals and get a valve job and be good to go. Mine as well do a good set of springs and retainers and some cams and all it a day. I would take everything appart though to see if there is anything salvageable and come up with a parts list and then I am sure we can give you a hand on what to order and what nots.

Get new everything..
Every oil line, oil cooler MUST be replaced, turbo...

PS. if your getting alongblock you will not need a head....... Me personally in your position I would get a used motor/turbosetup with oil lines from someone on here. I have a feeling most people do not know whats what and you will put some metal shavings back into your system.. Something as simple as an oil pressure gauge line not being replaced and cause a spun bearing out the gate.

I was going to try to flush out the turbo, do you really think it has to be replaced? Other than thatI am going to replace all the oil lines and the cooler, just trying to stay within budget. Thanks for the advice so far guys.

I would say, depending on your budget and goals:

1-part out section
2- vendor(buschur,map,etc.)
3-eBay junkyard motor
4-www.car-part.com
