Is the undertray necessary??

Just wondering if it is. I had one on my Scoob and ended up taking it off for ease of access. Didn't make one bit of difference on there and I'm just curious if the same goes for the Evo. I crawled under and took it off tonight to have a root around and make sure all is in order. After getting the darn thing off I noticed that it was completely knackered and of course all the clips are now useless.
06 evo ix mr.

Thanks,

Cheers

Functional, yes. Necessary, no.

Makes sense. I just want to make sure i'm not harming anything... I really love this car, and I plan on keeping it till it quits running many many years from now.

it helps cool the 6 speed transmission, which needs a bit more help cooling than the 5 speed if you are running it hard for long durations.

Keeps all that dirt out of your engine bay and when it rains keeps the rain out also. .

In that case I suppose i'll try to put it back on. Anyone know where I can get some BETTER clips to reattach it? One's that'll pop right in?

What did you use to make that under-tray and now much were the materials? How much does it weigh? I really like that, It's also more protection for your oil pan and trans housing.
