My name is Jon and I'm in search for an evo. I own a mini cooper s right now and hate that it is fwd I have work don't to it and I am selling it. Back to the main point could some one give me some info on evos? Things to look for when buying one etc.

Welcome to the forums. Out of curiosity, what are your reasons for wanting an Evo? I know that you're trying to distance yourself from FWD, but I'm wondering what else you're considering.

I've had numerous discussions with friends (as I've owned two Evos, currently driving an Evo IX SE that I bought brand new in February 2007), and if I had to get a replacement car, I'd likely pick a new FR-S/BRZ over getting a used Evo IX or a new Evo X.

on a serious note, research, read, browse forums, find local owners, talk to local shops and learn what you want from an evo. If you are willing to put in the work to learn about these cars (or anything in life, really) you will get way more out of it than just jumping into it.
That being said, there is no replacement for learning through experience, and that's just the nature of the game. Evo's are incredibly fun cars but they do require some loving. The better you know about what you're up against, the more prepared you will be.

To answer your question on why I want an evo.

I love the body style on the 8 & 9. One of my buddy's had an 8 and I got to drive it I loved how it handled how it felt and the power of all 4 wheels making you go. I have kinda looked at WRX but I'm not a fan of how they look. The biggest thing is I just got married and I want to have a car that can be fun but also has room for kids if we have any.
