New guy with a evo 8
New guy with a evo 8
Hi there I just got a 2003 evo 8 5 speed. Got the car as a low mileage project with only 33000 miles on it but a bad clutch and motor with spun bearings. Also the car was vandalized by a crazy ex girlfriend/wife that keyed the exterior and sliced up alot of the interior. The damage is all cosmetic and really not that bad and will be repaired and repainted once the car is running well with the new engine and clutch. As for the engine and clutch I have a 4g64 block and crank that I'm doing a 2.4 long rod build with and I got a competition clutch stage 4 6 puck ceramic for her. (car came with a good evo8 ported head) I already have the 156mm manley rods and manley 87mm pistons, dual valve springs w titanium retainers, Im getting ready to send the block and head off to be machined and I need to pick up a few things, gsc s2's gaskets and fasteners ect. Car will be a daily/cruiser that will rarely be launched or taken to the track. It will be fitted with a hx40 soon in a t3 bep housing and tuned by buschur racing. (car already has aem) The last owner had 340 to the wheels on a stock long-block and turbo tuned by them. I was wondering and I did search as to what people consider the "safe" power level on a stock transmission/drive-train? I know the turbo and engine combination can crank out 450 to the wheels just fine.
Thanks! ill probably have Buschur keep it at 450 at the wheels when I get it to them. Nice 2g In your pic btw what kind of setup does it have? I have 2 1g awds, a daily (till the evo's done and a never ending project.
