Hey Dudes and maybe Babes , i bought my first Evo a 2005 from Ebay , it was in Glenn Elynns Ill. at a chevy dealer , it was a trade in on a monster truck , So i am new to this Forums and wanted to share , my car is running 30 pounds of boost , on 100 octane , its got what seems to be a AMS short block , a AMS custom chrome sheet metal intake, a big precision turbo mounted in what used to be the grill, a cool dam header thats Ceramic coated i think, it does not tarnish or turn colors , also it has locked differentials with drag radials , a triple disc clutch , and i don`t know much about Evo tranis but the shift pattern is straight up and down , no need to push the shifter to the side at all , its a little rough to drive around town or in parking lots or a traffic jam , but it does not run hot so i am happy with it , No air conditioning, i never had AC so no big deal there , i used to be a Mazda guy , i had R100`s RX2`s and 3 `s and 7`s , really i had about every fast car , high performance car made to many to list , i ran my Mazdas at 150 street , Red Hook Piers , back road at Shea stadium , and of course fountain ave , so i am no rookie to whats a good running car . So i am thinking about switching to E85 since 100 octane is $9.85 a gallon and VP more power is $ 70 for 5 gallons , the Cam 2 runs cleaner and smoother than the VP , Is E85 really a 108 octane ? , well i went to TACH motors in Oceanside today to talk about a Re-tune and to talk about getting my car inspected since my OBD11 is not comunicating to pass the NYS inspection , the guys at Tach were cool and hopefully they can figure out how to make my car pass inspection, they have a good reputation around the neighborhood so i hope to go back Friday to see what i can do , now the car is a total rocket , i mean shot out of a cannon type fast when the turbo hits , and it sounds like a jet , if i can get the same performance with e85 that would be cool since its available here for cheap. So i will keep everyone posted,Anybody see my car listed on Ebay last month ? it silver with a carbon fiber hood and trunk , no wing, it has no roll cage but it does have a parachute mount which is confusing .

Thanks , i will try, i am not that good with posting photos , i do have a 20 second video with audio that you can here the car run, ( not much to watch ) i can email it to you for fun if you want , i was granny shifting it with a load of passengers but it sounds pretty good ,.

 

i think e85 is 102 or 103?? and be careful of having a fully modified car that you didnt modify.

 

Bad news, my motor blew up threw a rod out the front of the block, needless to say i am extremely bummed out , i was not even beating on it , oh well , its at the shop getting rebuilt, this is going to hurt .

 

That sucks. Rare to hear these motors throw a rod but I guess with the extra boost and some miles they can.

 

......................................<<<<<<...... .............Yes it really sucks , this motor had aluminum connecting rods, i hate aluminum connecting rods, anyway i am buying forged steel I-beam rods for my new long block., that should do it .
