Greetings from the GTA
Been lurking for a bit and thought I better sign up as there is so much good info here.
At this present time we have an 06 Eclipse GT and an 07 Eclipse Spyder GT and I'm now starting my research on a new car for next year. Looking at a 2012 Evo Mr later next year. I looked at the Eclipse for about a year before buying and I have to say I love the car but not crazy for the manufacturer or maybe more precisely the local dealer. They have a tendency to disallow pretty much any warranty work i've tried to get done. So much for bumper to bumper. Still we love their cars so...
I can't go with the GSR as my left knee has had 19 surgeries and a clutch is ok for a short period but not as a DD. The MR seems to foot the bill. I buy a car and drive it till it gets crushed, however long that may be. May I ask what the general consensus is on the Evo for longevity? Can I expect it to still be running in 19 years? 15? I know the key is usually a well followed maintenance program. You see a lot of old Lancers on the road around here so I'm guessing they will last.
I plan on leaving it bone stock. I'm 54 and still drive fast but not stupid if you know what I mean. Speed does not kill, speed differential is the killer. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. I'm wanting something that I can put my grand kids in back of and yet still have fun when the wife and I want to push it a little on back roads.
Anyway, I would like to thank the members here for the community you have built and I hope I fit in before and after my upcoming purchase.

I dunno about how long the evo 10's last but I just bought a 2012 gsr and love it. I can fit 5 people fairly comfortable and overall its a super fun car to drive. From what I have seen and read the evos can last pretty long if you maintain it well. I know a guy here who has a 1994 JDM evo 10 and its still going strong! lol
