Hello! I own a 97' Lancer Evo 4 and I want to get a Datalogger/Tuning tool like the DSM's have (dsmlink with the EPROM ECU)

Wondering if I should just buy an Evo 8 Ecu and leave it at that or do those need to be tuned or modified after installation?

I'm looking for something that I can tune/change air/fuel ratios and etc after applying a new mod like an HKS or K&N Air filter, Or a walbro Fuel pump. Just simple small things like that so I don't have to send it to a damn shop that has had lots of tuning and building experience with Evo's, because there aren't any in my area... I can probably use the IDS computers at my work because I am a Tech for Ford, but I'm certain I won't be able to access much through those.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Btw, my Evo is used as a DD, not track.

 

Actually, does the method in the "How to: tuning your evo" work for older ones as well?

Evo ecu pin outs - I to X!!
This will give you the info to swap an Evo viii
Ecu into your iv(the iv ecu is not tuneable)
In England we have the Ecutek system for tuning
The v to x ecu's,do you have this or Ecuflash available?
If you get stuck get friendly with the off the chart smart
Chaps on geekmapped.com,I am sure they can sort it out

I have no tuning devices or software right now, but thanks for the info. ill look into all that tonight! also, my pics will be uploaded tonight.
