Trade in my E92 M3 for an EvoX??
Trade in my E92 M3 for an EvoX??
I've had my E92 M3 for a little over a year now. It's a great car but deep down, I think I wish that I would have kept my 07 STI (modded...E85, TBE......~370 whp) (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2306298)
I miss the raw, loud, unstoppable nature of the car. Driving the m3 in Chicago winters was not fun. I went auto-xing yesterday in the M3 and while it was fun, I felt much better and surefooted in the STI. The M3 has the power but there's quite a bit of power oversteer and it's not quite as "point-and-shoot" the way the STi was. I guess the way I look at it is based on my daily needs and racing needs, the STi might just be the better car for me.
Any other cars that you guys think I should consider?
Needs: AWD, fun, moddibility (without breaking the bank), practicality (i have 3 boys so one of the problems with the M3 is that it only seats 4...NO family trips in my car), dual purpose (DD and auto-x)....
-EvoX
-STi
-GTR (too expensive.....for now)
Do you guys think I'm totally crazy for considering this? Thoughts??

Not crazy at all but you gotta make sure you make the right choice so you are not regretting it down the line....you could always keep your car and get an older STI or EVO 8/9 for track....do you have a long commute for work? Newer STI's seem to have ringland issues....and 08-10 X's had timing chain issues...if you get a X it would absolutely do all of the duties...as would an STI as they are pretty soft compared to an 8/9...I daily my X and with the leather and sunroof package there is a bunch of sound deadening that gets installed as well.....it was only marginally louder than my previous Mazda6...until my exhaust went on that is....I stuff 5 adults in my car with no issues..back seats are actually bigger than my Mazda6 had and bigger than most sedans until you start getting in to fullsize cars.....and best of all EVO's build power much better and cheaper than STI's...could always wait and see what the new STI is like

BTW, did you used to own an STI? I remember your name from IWSTI
Agreed about the trunk. If you have 3 boys you may want to consider a STi hatch. I love my X, but I am always stuck taking my other car on trips because I have no room for my stuff plus the wife's and 18 month old son.

Honestly if you see yourself being able to afford a GTR in the near future I think the answer is pretty cut and dry...I love everything about the Evolution line but if I had the opportunity to get into a GTR I wouldn't think twice
if you just need a 5th seat and don't really need the trunk by all means get the x. even with the pillowball upgrades in the stock sti suspension, the evo is on a different plane. drive them back to back, you'll see.

Someone trade him for his M3 stat!! From a performance stand-point, you can make all of these ridiculously fast, but the M3 is leagues above the cars you've mentioned in terms of EVERYTHING else, outside of performance. Not sure which one you have, but I've had an Evo since 2005, both an VIII and a IX, and LOVED them both, no doubt GREAT cars. I will always love and appreciate the all wheel drive, 4 cylinder cars that can compete with the best. Not sure your age or career, but the M3 is an absolute incredible machine. From a price standpoint, yeah, the M3 costs $$ to mod and all, and outside of warranty its certainly isn't inexpensive to maintain. Since purchasing my 2013 E92 M3, this thing puts more than a smile on my face. The thing handles like a DREAM too! Not that my evos didn't, but the chassis and suspension on the M3 is OUTstanding. I would never talk poorly about an Evo, I obviously prefer and Evo over an STI if I were to choose between the two, but in terms of the quality and class of the M3, I'm sorry, they are in very different leagues. You have your hands on the most advanced V8 made to date for a production car and you want to get rid of it?? Haha, jk, we all have our reasons why and I can appreciate that. You are telling me you prefer the sound of the Evo and STI over the sound of the S65 though?
All cars are great cars, but Somebody trade him for the ///M!

Going to test drive a 2013 WW GSR tomorrow night. Pretty psyched actually. The one I'm testing doesn't have Nav. How good/bad is this Nav unit? Is it worth getting (I'm used to having one and I'd like if it's worthwhile and well interfaced)?
