I may be coming to the dark side

Currenty own an 05 VIII, looking to add an X to my arsenal. Im not giving up my, not an option. I love the ct9a evos. Between the years, i know the small differences but mod for mod are they pretty much equal, handling as well?

08-12 are virtually the same in that regard. Good call on keeping your VIII... I wish I kept mine years back.

I own a 05 and a 08. I owned the X first, great car, never gave me any issues, I have some bolts on, tbe, cai, cobb stage 2 flash. Car runs and drives great. My 05 evo is a much more raw car, it doesn't have as much creature comforts as the x does.

My wife likes to say that the X is more of a guys car, more rugged, more race car like, where the X is a easier ride. i wouldn't trade my X for the world, where as after owning my 8 I like it don't get me wrong, but I don't love it. Nice car, great curb appeal, but definitely a harsher car then my X. It depends on what you're looking for. Everyone's opinion on a car is going to be different, much of that is based on mods as well. You'll never get a 700hp X to ride like a Factory X.

I love my 8. It's a pure drivers car. Even though the X is supposedly far better than both 8/9 I won't get rid of it, I think the 8/9 look better aswell. How reliable do you find it, and do you feel the heaviness to it as opposed to your VIII

I'll be honest, I have driven both the 8 and the X very spiritedly, my 8 is lowered, and my X is stock ride height, I really don't notice a huge handling difference. Obviously I've never pushed both vehicles to the limits on a track, but my opinion is that the X has a far more superior awd system (I guess that's what millions of dollars in R&D get you). The power potential is there in the X as well, the Aluminum block 4b11 is just as good of a motor as the trusty old 4g63. I've owned many turbo eclipses in my time, all great cars (except for my 2nd spyder that had crankwalk).

I guess in the scheme of things, I would let my 8 go before I sold my X, but that's my opinion.`

Why/how is the awd superior. Is this based on what you've read or what you see when driving between the two and how so.

Oh god! It was only a matter of time before this happened...

And an Evo generations argument commences.

Lame

How can anything on the Evo X be superior to the 8/9. Doesn't Everyone know gods gift to the automotive world!

Test drive an X and make your decision? I feel like a lot of people on here will be biased. I've driven an 8, 10, and own a 9. I like the 9 because it's mid road between the 8 and 10. Better interior/better engine than the 8 while still having that raw feeling you don't get in the 10. Just my opinion though.

Well like I said, its purely opinion. However I'm sure between 05 and 08 they have made many improvements to the awd system, whether they are computer tuning, or hardware modifications during production. I will say that My X feels more stable at high speeds and hard corners, however I also have variables, (type of tire, wheels width/offset, tire temperature, higher mileage on my 8, etc). However in the times I have spiritedly driven both cars, the X gives me a better sense of stability, it may be because I have a slightly wider aftermarket wheel on it with new tires, or it may be because the car is heavier than the 8 and wider.

All in all, I like both cars, but if I had to choose one over another after having driven the 8, and the X. I would have to choose an evo 9! I've always wanted a 9...

But all joking aside, both great cars, I wouldn't hesitate to own either again, both great machines that were produced. But comfort wise I like the X, performance wise I like the 8 or 9, granted my 8 is much more modified then the X.

Always wanted a 9, I may have to agree with you on this one. And I agree with the lack of rawness in the X. The 8/9 more definitely a driver's car, the X moved more towards drive quality and comfort vs. pure sports car, too many creature comforts.
