Cheap evo? Need advice

I found a 2004 evolution with 104k miles. Tranny needs rebuild. Motor starts up fine and idles fine. Has HKS 272 cams and full downpipe back exhaust. It's been sitting up for 2 years. The front passenger door got backed into and needs work. It has a clean title though. He is asking $5000. I already have a 500hp evo 9. I am thinking about buying this car just to part it out. Check out the pics. Any thoughts?

Thanks
-Kory

get a set of gravel suspension and take it off road or you could part it out and hold on to some parts like headlights/tail lights/bumper/ various electrical parts for your existing car.

Sounds like a potential cheap fixer, buy it and flip it. If it isn't all jacked up you could probably get an easy 7K profit out of it. If there isn't anything catastrophically wrong there isn't any reason to take it off the road.... more money to be made reselling it at that buy price too.

I would part it out, if you flip it the possibility of something being destroyed due to abuse is high, if you have a company with the income and tax id you can get the parts cheaper and reliable at the dealerships and local conpanies that sell parts.

I was about to build a motor for more power in my current evo. Until i saw this deal come up. I was thinking I put the build on hold for a little bit, buy this evo, use its engine for a rebuild and sell off other things. Here are some lowball prices I come up with off the top of my head to part it out:

Evo shell $3000
Transmission: $600
Transfer case: $700
Rear diff: $500
head: $200

I already have my money back plus $500 and spare 4g63 block to build.

I am not a body man or repair shop so I would not be interested in fixing it up and selling it.

04... this would be an VIII then yea? Dude for 4.5K w/109 on the clock, that's a steal bro(JMHO). I mean my 03 has about 80K on the clock and I just modified/rebuilt most of the drivetrain (T-Case, Tranny & Clutch), but other than mostly self inflicted wounds my girl has given me np. All I'm saying is if the ride is in decent shape other than some cosmetic damage and the basic wear and tear stuff that just comes with age and dd you could totally build, part out, or hell just fix up that one, make it your dd & park your IX... Build the IX up... 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen either way you've got options. If I had the scratch to aquire, modify and maintain that 03 I'd ****** it up.

added some pictures, check them out guys.

Also found out the engine starts and runs fine and has hks 272 cams in it.

Passenger door does open, its just hard to do.

Oh, and my friend was wrong about the initial price. The guy wants $5000 (not the $4500 I originally posted)

Yeah, pick it up.

I just got a deal on a BBY 03. I think all it needs is the clutch. The owner took it all apart and that's how it sat. LOL. Clean titles make it that much nicer.
