Buying a new Evo ix

I'm thinking about buying an Evo ix as close to stock as I can find. I just have a few questions. I'm new to this.

Is installing a bigger turbo worth it? Like this one... http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...de=NTFPSUPER94

What should the first mods I install be?

This is going to be my daily car but I also want it to have a lot of power.

Will adding a lot of mods kill the car's mpg?

And when should I tune the car?

Thanks! -KFdez

Also, not sure what your background of cars is, but I would suggest learning to properly drive and handle the car with the stock power would be a great idea before pumping lots of money into power right off the bat. Getting some seat time and some knowledge around how the car handles is worth it.

The two threads mentioned above are good ideas but to give you ideas right NOW I'd do the learning of the car as mentioned above. I'd also check into simple mods i.e. upgraded BOV, UICP/LICP, exhaust and what not.

Me and my buddy did all the work on my Evo 8 which was fun yet a pain, so regarding that HTA yes that turbo is awesome. Personally I'd go with the BB FP Red/Black or even switch it up to maybe a 6266 or GT35r set up. Guess it depends on your goal! GL

uicp and licp stand for upper intercooler piping and lower inter cooling piping, figured you might not know that yet from the above post, just considering the thread

As much as I wanna help you by giving you the quick answers, its good to think about what your goals and expectations are before you pull the trigger on a bigger turbo/big power.

Making lots of power is awesome, but remember at the same time, you have to pace yourself.
For example if you've never ridden a motorcycle before, you wouldnt go out and learn on a Hayabusa/1000cc.

If you really want to an Evo, read a little into the forums to see what you should watch out for when buying.

I could easily have a damaged vehicle and take off all my aftermarket parts back to stock to make you think there is no abuse/damage.

Most members on this site are helpful, but at the same time you have to do a little homework before you can take the test.... Its a right of passage. Check out the hyperlinks that the members above posted. They are very helpful and I often revert back from time to time as a refresher.

You guys have been really helpful. I guess I should start a little at a time. This will be my first time Modding my car but it definitely won't be my last. I definitely appreciate all the advice you guys have given me from your own experiences and I will definitely look into those links.

I am not huge into the modding game of evo's but i have modded plenty cars, and i think personally that an evo 9 with bolt ons would be plenty of power... And if you did want more use meth... and if you want more then that lol... E85 tune to destroy anything on the road ( If its convenient )

I didn't think about it that way but an e85 tune would be pretty convenient for the power and it's fairly cheaper than regular gasoline. And I will be adding bolt ons.
