How much for gauge installation (located in New Jersey)

I have an AEM Boost and AEM A/F I need to get installed. Made an appointment with a shop who said they will get back to me with a price. Didn't hear back from them and finally called back.... and was given a "ballpark" of 3 - 5 hours for installation, with it being 300 on the low end or 500 on the top end (incase they run into problems or updates need to be made).

I installed a boost on my VIII but never did the A/F. I just felt more comfortable with a shop doing it.

Does this price sound realistic?

100 dollars an hour is a bit high but not unreasonable. I'd assume three hours but given the shops inexperience with your vehicle it could be upwards of five.

Honestly just find some time and do it yourself, you'll save a large sum of money, get to know your car and know it was done right. I've installed gauges on almost all of my cars, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru and they're all very similar (just bought an Evo 9, it's in the works).

Good luck.

thanks. It is a rather reputable shop in New Jersey that works on Evos so I was a bit confused. Can't seem to get a straight answer on cost......and quite frankly, felt like I was being jerked around. however, I have read mainly positive reviews so figure this is just an off timing.

I was hoping to use this shop for tuning and a few other items on my car early next year.....

Holy crap! 100 an hour! Wtf haha honestly you also might be able to talk to a reputable stereo shop. Since its all wiring you don't need a specific evo shop to do it. Most stereo stores are waaay cheaper. This is only if you don't wanna do it yourself as far as I'm concernes that's to exoensive

"Hardest" part of this gauge install is the wideband bung. OP, do you already have an aftermarket turbo back exhaust on the car? I suggest finding an exhaust shop to drill a hole in your downpipe & weld the bung on for you & you do the rest of the install yourself. Run a vacuum line for the boost gauge & power & ground for both gauges, very easy...

Have you considered doing it yourself? It's actually pretty easy.

You just need to plan to have your downpipe off the car so someone can weld in your A/F bung.

Other than that, I think I knocked out my install in around four hours taking my time and doing it right.

Better yet, sell the gauges to me for cheap and I'll do an extremely thorough write up for you!

^lmao.

Got quoted $80 for install (a/f wideband) from a shop nearby me that I do a lot of work with.

Seems a little excessive. If I were you I'd go to the Regional Tri-State thread and see if people can give you recommendations on good shops in the (NY,PA, NJ) area.
