What am I getting myself into...

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for awhile and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. I'm looking at the Evo below and wanted some advice -- it currently won't start as it's in need of a replacement crankshaft and thrust bearings.

I'm financially prepared to pay for what I'm expecting this endeavor to cost (~$2500) but what else should I look out for/ask the current owner of the vehicle to potentially avoid any additional cost?

I paid $250 more for a beautifully running car without that hideous paint job. That thing is on its third engine in 33k miles. Run away, fast.

Keep looking OP. There are plenty of good, well-maintained Evos for sale.

Pass!
It looks like they tried to copy the STI in Fast 5 so they’re obviously pretty confused. With that many problems in a short period of time, I'd question any work done on that car, mechanical and electrical. Like everyone else says keep looking there are better deals out there.

I will continue on with the "pass" theme.

You can get a much better deal for the money you'd spend on a cleaner, less problem ridden evo. Keep looking!

Idk man that is really low miles with some already good parts.

Buy it and invest 5k to have a beastly evo!

If your not in need of a DD, get it!

I would pass. It seems this thing has been ridden hard and put up wet.

You can get a running Evo with a better past history for the same price that a crap price especially since if you can't replace the crank yourself a mechanic will charge considerably more.

Move on
