Evo VI Running costs
Evo VI Running costs
Hey guys,
I'm probably going to purchase the Mitsubishi Evo VI as my first car,
I was wondering at how much it will cost to run?
Insurance
Maintenance
Check-ups
I'm 17, and wondering on how much i should expect to pay for running the legend!
Thanks

Insurance - call your local insurance companies and get quotes. I'm 27, have a serious ish driving conviction and mine is 15 - 1600 a year (NZ$).
Maintenance - Motor oil every 5000km. Trans, t case, rear diff every 50,000km. Cost depends on the fluid you buy. I buy Motul. Engine, TC, diff and trans was a bit over $400 for me. I'd imagine that is the more expensive end of the scale.
Check up - you shouldn't need to get periodical medicals for your car. If you think something is wrong, search the forums here. If you can't find the info you need, start a thread and somebody will be very likely able to help you.
The major factor in running costs is if you intend to work on your car yourself or pay someone to do it. I probably wouldn't be able to afford to keep my evo if I paid others to do all the work. Don't hesitate to look overseas for better prices on parts either. I hardly ever buy parts locally, it usually adds 50% to price, even including postage.
