Welcome, and nice ride....I wonder how much difference in fact are between AUS model and US model Evo's. Totally a noob question, but I am very new to the Evo scene, and would like to learn all I can lol.

well form what Wikipedia has stated;

These are the models that were available to the United States.

Standard – revised 5-speed, standard model
RS – ralli sport, revised 5-speed, aluminum roof, gauge pack, minimal interior, also no radio
SE – Special Edition, aluminum roof/hood, and front fenders, split seven-spoke forged aluminum BBS wheels in "diamond black" finish, HID headlights with integrated fog lights, red-stitched Recaro seats
MR – 6-speed, Bilstein monotube shocks, split seven-spoke forged aluminum BBS wheels, aluminum roof, hood, and front fenders, gauge pack, HID headlights with integrated fog lights, vortex generator, front brake cooling ducts and custom MR badging.

as for the australian model CY, theres hardly any info about it.

All i know so far is that, they are all 6-Speed manual. (not sure if it is the same 6 speed set up as the MR in the JDM or US).

The dashboard where the stereo sits and the climate control appears different;

The australian one appears to have more quality looking climate knob in satin silver. Stereo is double DIN. No gauges;

The US model has single DIN and with the climate switches that look like they were from 1980 - 1990 Vehicle? ;

Im assuming this vehicle has the carbon E-Brake & Alloy knob id due to being an MR version.

the CY model is equipped with the rear diffuser type rear bumper.

and the light weight BBS wheels. It appears the rear boot badging slightly differs also.

Oh and its Right Hand Drive!

if i find out more, ill post it.

Thats right

but apparently they are in an awkward location…

I've seen many owners have swapped the radio location with the gauge location.

the reason the climate control looks diffrent and higher quality is because it IS diferent, it is all electric, our wonderfull USDM version is machanical, cables and such. theres is far better, but wieghs more.

nice car and welcome to the forum!

Ok I've found another slight detail;

The Speedo in the instrument cluster, only shows the 260 in KM.

This US one seems to have both Km & Miles per hour.

and referring to my previous interior picture…

it appears the hand brake for the US is on the opposite side (next to the driver) where the AUS one, its closest to the driver.
