To wait or buy now?

Hello I am zigma, and pretty much for the past 20 years I have only owned American cars. The thing I have notice, as the years go on the cars get more expensive and feel cheaper and cheaper with more plastic.

I am now at the point where I am so tired of the poor build, and dealing with cuts. I am going to buy a import.

I want my next car to be AWD, Sunroof, leather seats, and faster then my mustang GT.

Now I have test driven these cars
2014 Audi S4 - Felt like a old man car with no style
2014 BMW 3 series I - Felt slow
2014 Subaru WRX - I did not like the style
2015 Subaru STI - I did not like the style and hated all the red lights inside.
2014 EVO X - I like the style, and interior feels a bit cheap but is not bad with GPS.

My dealership here telling me they can get me a 2015 EVO X in 6 mths, but I also wonder If I should just wait and see about getting a EXO XI. The problem is the EVO XI seem odd bring a hybrid and little info... There no history on a car like this, so who knows if the car will even be able to make it to 100,000 miles even.

What do you recommend? Go ahead and get the EVO X now, or wait and see what the EVO XI is about.

I got to get new, that one catch.
My company will give me $400 a mth to a new car for 7 years, but only $300 for 6 if it a year old and so on.
I only get $53 a mth for my 2006 Mustang Gt.

Forget the XI. It was supposed to be out two years ago, and they still can't make it work.

Since the new Lancer will share a French car platform, there won't be any new Lancer EVOs.
They might build a hybrid on a different platform, but, between the extra weight and trying to drive the two ends with different power plants, the handling might be even worse than a Stang.

It's odd that you like the style of the EVO X but don't like the style of the '15 STi -- there have been a lot of comments about the new Scooby looking like they dropped a boxer mill into an EVO.
Heck, with a few tweaks and a new mill, the STi might work its way up to where the Mitsu was six years ago.

The EVO X interior isn't up to the standards of the Mercedes, and the CLA45 AMG does have more turbo boost (in stock trim), but ...
Well, from Jalopnik:
Everyone kind of anticipated the CLA45 would be a German Mitsubishi Evo killer in the corners. It's not. It doesn't handle like some hard-edged, all-wheel drive corner destroyer; it handles like an extremely competent front-wheel drive sedan with a little something extra you experience during hard cornering.
The Merc's gearbox isn't up to the standards of the MR's Getrag, and there's no stick option on the Merc.
And it's nearly $60K.

When it was time to update my '03 EVO VIII, I looked at the 911C4, I looked at the GT-R, ...
and then I bought a '14 EVO X MR for half the price.

I hadn't owned a two pedal car since the Nixon years, but I'm liking the Getrag TC-SST a lot more than I thought I would.
Although I'm still using it with the paddles. It's not that the auto mode is bad. It isn't. It's actually much better than most semi-autos. It's just that I'm used to picking my own shift points, and I never quite like precisely where a box shifts itself.

As for waiting for a '15 EVO (which, we're told, will be the last year of the EVO --- something we've been hearing for a while):
There are little differences every year on the EVO.

For '14, they removed some car detail controls (such as lock announce lights selection) from the Nav system, but added live traffic, weather and fuel price info from Nokia's "HERE" system (via HD radio).
Some people dislike the loss of minutia control from the NAV, but I kinda like that there's no access to car systems from a box that's connected to every comm network you can imagine.
(Hackers going after cars is only inevitable.)

So waiting for a '15 is a bit of a crap shoot.
There won't be a whole lot of differences --- except there will likely be even *more* Fed nanny systems on the '15 than on the '14.

Already, the owner's manual is so stuffed full of nanny warnings that it's hard to get any useful information out of it.
It's easier to read the manual on my '80s 328 --- even the parts in Italian.
(But then, how many people actually read an owner's manual, anymore?)

I had a bit of the same selection issue last year.
I looked around for a '13 EVO X, but I got a late start, and dealers kept trying to steer me to what little was left at local lots, being "close" to what I wanted.
So I ordered a '14 exactly to my specs, and waited four months for it to arrive.

Oh, one other thing you can bet about the 2015 -- it'll cost more than a '14.
Already, an MR with all the goodies will hang over that $45K line.

You'll likely need to strip off a few options to get a '15 under that mark.
Or go with a GSR with the manual box.
(You pretty much pay sticker on a car you order to spec.)

But with either year, the cornering the EVO's AWC gives you will astonish you --
-- especially after that 'Stang.

(I will say, Ford makes pretty good prototypes. I was impressed by the handling on the '88 Stang. But after two years, the factory had slopped it up until the new ones were a disaster. These days, the only good Fords are built in Europe.)

Toss the EVO into the corners, and you'll find that those large seat side bolsters aren't just to hold the airbags.

What a dealer calls "the same" is plus or minus quite a lot.
I asked a local dealer for a black EVO X with a sunroof and he felt that a white one without a sunroof was "the same".
I had to go to a dealer 90 miles away to get one that would order exactly what I wanted.
And they still forgot the side wind deflectors.

(Remember: what a salesman tells you verbally is *not* a guarantee.. In the end, words are just wind. )

I'd also heard that the '15 won't have Recaros, which would be a bit of a minus.

But if you can get a '14 you like at a local dealer, you can bargain on the price.
Ordering a '15 will lock you into sticker price.

So ordering a '15 is only a good option for control freaks like me.

A mitsubishi dealer told me the same. I think if anything, it's all speculation as to when the Xi will actually show itself.

@zigma51 - I am also thinking of getting into a 2014 evo(again) and IMO: the Audi and BMW don't handle as good as the Evo but are more "up" in style. I found the subaru sti/wrx to be a heavy car. The evo is pretty plain on the inside and some areas on the outside but u can tailor it to your liking. I think if you get into the groove of waiting for the "next one" - you may find yourself not ever getting into something new. Plus the fact that the first line of production for most cars always has the most issues/recalls/repairs.

As one of the first few who received the 08' X from the first batch - i'd say go for the evo. Not being ignorant here, but in my experience - a lot of euro/american performance have a hard time keeping up with an Evo. When you get into super cars or entry level like the Gtr, then it's a different story... unless you Mod. Best of luck to you!

that is mostly likely true, but, they are trying to sell you a 2014 so...

but it will not be French, hybrid, diesel or anything like that. It will be same platform with some visual changes. Everything else is the same rumor that has been going around since the 3rd gen Eclipse and never happens, and all of those are "credible" too.
