So as these things go, i traded my WRX for an EVO.
I had a red 06 WRX with full bolt ons stage 2, pro tuned, and a lot of suspension work. bad thing was the car only made 265 to the wheels, and i wanted more dependable power. So here i am now driving a white FE, and from what im reading these cars can easily make over 265 to the wheels bone stock with just a retune, i cant wait to start the bolt ons on this thing, only had it for a couple weeks now but i have no regrets with my trade in.

i really like the evo a lot, but... my subie was very setup suspension wise, so the evo by comparison doesnt come close. The evo seems like a much nicer car but that is just comparing new evo versus my 10 year old subaru, the drive train and power delivery also feels very different, the subie just feels very mechanical and direct/connected to the ground, while the evo feels like what it is, electronically controlled power delivery.

Hopefully after a few suspension mods the X will start to give better feedback.

im hoping after some lowering springs and larger sway bars i can get some of that feeling back, but ive never driven a modded evo, i have driven a buddys 9 when i had my rex and it had that same electronic feel to me when i could jump from one car to the other. i know i'll end up with coilovers eventually, that should diffidently do the trick. i do prefer that mechanical feel also but had to make that sacrifice for the more dependable HP of the evo.
Congratulations and Welcome. I too had a 2005 WRX (New) Cobb stage 2 but with stock suspension and 18" BBS. I loved that car but it was very different from my FE. Before owning an Evo I always thought that they were very similar, that is not the case! The Evo Feels more planted, more agile, and more powerful straight out of the box. But, there are a few things that I liked better about my WRX: 1) Seats, 2) Much more comfortable ride over bad road surfaces, 3) Better gas mileage, 4) Quieter at highway cruising speeds, 5) Trunk space. I Plan to do a stage 1/protune when I break her in but that will be the extent of my mods.
