I am considering switching platforms I am coming from a history with the 3s (3000gt/Stealth) platform. I have owned a handful of those and enjoyed them. However parts are getting harder to find and more expensive and they are just not a reliable platform. I am thinking about putting myself into and Evo but I know very little. I will be asking some annoying newbie questions and picking users brains trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can so I can the right decision.

First things first, if I am going to buy and Evo to be a weekend car I can build up to 550+awhp and have fun with what is the year and model that would be a great choice for me?

Just make sure you understand the differences between the 8 & 9.

Yes, a GSR is one of more basic trim pkgs. I would steer clear of the MR & the SSL trim pkgs, but thats me (Im an RS fan)
