2003 invoice price / decissions decissions

Well, after much contemplation, I have decided to purchase an Evo8. I've lurked on these forums for a few months now, but just recently registered. The local Mitsu dealership has a 2003 instock, basically Power Sunroof and Wing options, in Rally Red. They at first asked for sticker price, but I told them I know 2004's should be outwithin 2 weeks, so they said fine, 28,860. I don't see how they could do this with a straight face, since the base lancer is 30k now, and from what I read here, includes the sunroof / wing in that price. After a nice long testdrive, I was sold on it, but the price they were asking was WAYY too much. THey called me back and said the lowest they could go was 27,500. Keep in mind this is for a 2003. I have no want in the leather interior or Infinity soundsystem of the newer cars, as my brother in law owns a rather large custom car audio place here. I also plan on putting down 10k and financing for 5 years. If anyone can point out some flaws in my logic or what the options are on the 2004, please correct me.

Thanks

Sorry about that. I'm in Laredo, Texas. The local mitsu dealer is Ramirez Mitsu, but it's not listed on Mitsu' s site yet, as they are fairly new.

Areet,
$27,500 is a good price, below invoice. You may be able to get them down another $500 or so, but is it really worth the effort? Over 5 years, that $500 is a few dollars a month. Get the car, you will love it!

Andyevo,

So 27,500 is below invoice? I guess I might as well start gathering my pennies. I had to sell some of my toys:

= sold

Yes, $27,500 is below invoice. Don't know of a better bargain in the automotive world right know than an EVO below invoice!
Glad you got rid of that Cheep!

It was fugly, but it was a beater, I just sold my 02 wrangler as well. And that Jeep was ANYTHING but cheep! That's the best "nice" shot of it before it went under the knife, ended up stuffing a 14b FF rear and a D60 front in it. SOA, 1/4 eliptical rear, dana300 through a th350 powered by a chevy 4.6. Ended up getting 8 for it.

I had a dealer go down to as much as $29, 211 out the door (taxes and everything) for a white 03 Evo.... but I didn't want it cause I told him $28,900 OTD instead. But I guess $300 was too much of a hit for him. hahaha... bastards. haha... oh well... I really didn't want to buy a new car at this point anyways.

I would say go for it. I just got the same car, w/o sunroof for $27,100. I got this price because my brother works for Mitsu and gets a discount. Of course, this means they can try and screw you out of a trade. Ooops, they didn't do that either!!

I got mine a month ago for 27 and change. 27,5 is a good price. You're unlikely to beat it, and if you can, I'd make sure the car doesn't have 300 test drive miles on it, or was "transport damaged".
