Stages mean different things to different tuners..

Generally a stage 1 package means upgraded Exhaust, Downpipe, Boost control, and tuning to optimize the new parts.

I can think of one specific tuner who's stage doesn't conform to that..

The key is to REALISTICALLY look at your goals.. If your car is a daily driver and you never go to the track, your needs will be different than someone who circuit races.. and their needs would in turn be different than a drag racer..

See what tuners and parts are out there.. Try to pick a vendor or tuner who's parts suit your needs, possibly their also fairly local so their products are designed for your climate and quality of gas.

The best stage 1 components you can get is knowledge.. Try to learn as much as you can before you modify your car. Also, if your car is brand new, try to put 20k or more on it (Hopefully don't modify it till its no longer under warranty) The biggest mistake (myself included) people make is they modify the car before they learn what the car's actual personality is.. you may find that you don't need or want to change anything, also you need to know whats "Right" about your car, and What can use improvement, however that comes with time and the knowledge of your options.

Sometimes LESS is more when making changes. There are many people who go hog-wild on mods, only to end up selling the car after being disappointed with the car's drivability..

Now with that said, I Personally use Buschur components and a TurboXS UTEC for engine management and boost control.. Is this the best combo? I personally think so, but everyone has their own opinion. Its important to do your research and find what works for you.
