i just wanted to know if we can put 18's on our car? how wide can we go 225, 235??? and if we put 18's on our cars with 35 lowpro will it rub, with people in the back, or without??? i was thinking of 225/35/18???? price is not a probelm so that factor is takin out. or would it just be better to stay with 17's something like 215/40/17's i just want to know how wide and big can we go before there is rubbing and you have to fold your fenders. peace

i have 18's on my ralliart, 215 35 18, 42 offset. I have yet to rub or have any problems with the change. By changing the factory POS tires to Pzeros and getting outstanding traction wet or dry, something the protenza's cannot do!. I love the change and would never go back. Everything i was told that i would get slower acceleration and cornering is Bull****.

it's not bull****.. you will go slower on 18s than you do on 16s.. it's physics

i didn't take physics and almost failed biology but i agree with sillpuddy. 16's will be faster for you than 18's.

depending on your weight of your 18's if you got 18's that are 12lbs and 16's that are 20 , i know the 16 have a shorter distance to go around but weight is a factor , hey i majored in culinary arts, not physics, lol

i doubt there are 18s that are 12 lbs that are readily available and affordable..

90% of the time the 18s will be like 30-50% more weight than 16s..

i think he is getting better accerelation and cornering only because of his new and better tires.. if he used the same POS tire on his 18s, he will notice the effect

I understand that by physics yes, but the feel i doubt that anyone would notice. By changing the wheels and tires i lowered my 60ft time and quarter mile by alot.

like i said, it could be the tires.. you can't really make the comparison since you change both at the same time

if you use the same tire on a 16 inch rim, maybe you will lower it even more

You really will feel accelration loss with 18s unless you drive like a grandma all the time then there will be no diff. 16's for go, 18's for show :mitsu:

lol iron chef, i like that. i guess i could care less if a 16 tire is gonna increase my 1/4 mile time, but 18's are gonna look alot sweeter and then i guess if you want faster quarter mile time you just gotta get more hp.

i have some 18 inch motegi ff7's with 225/40/18 tires..my tires rub in the rear when i make sharp turns with people in the back..but if im by myself it wont rub..i only use my 18's for daily driving..i use my 16's for the track cuz i have some racing tires on them..oh yeh i had to roll my fenders in the back too..

i dont know about 18s but i know of some 17s that are 14Ibs each and of course it all depends on what you mean buy affordable. yes im going to be paying around 200 each wheel but that is 6Ibs of rotational mass gone, and as far as the 16s vs the 18s, well if your lookin at the distance the wheel has to turn to complet a full circle if you DO DO IT RIGHT then when you up the wheel size and LOWER the profile of the tire then the CIRCUMFERANCE of the entire tire and wheels will be the same. so there for with LIGHTER wheels you will have better traction and a quicker acceleration. if im wrong please correct me but as far as i know the complete circumferance of the tire and wheel wont change all that much if any when you go with a lower profile tire and a larger wheel

$200 a wheel is cheap.. you should price out forged wheels..

the jump from 17s to 18s is a lot in terms of price because of the demand (not much) and the supply (tight) for 18s

try pricing out truck rims, you pay double to go from 20 to 22

you are corect to say that the circumferance will stay the same, but you are not taking into consideration the WIDTH of the tire.. the stock width is 205, if you go 235, you are adding 3 cm onto the width, and if the offset is not right, you either rub on the inside (strut) or the outside (fender)

You are right in that the overall circumference is the same, BUT you are moving the center of mass further fromt the center of rotation than it was previously. This increases the rotational inertia of the whole wheel/tire package and therefore requires more power to turn.
