New Member, looking at Evo MR's
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Steve, 21, and a manager for a customer service center here in Charleston, SC.
I am minutes away from Greg, and John over at GSC Motorsports. I actually stopped by Saturday and talked to John about his Evo that he had parked out front of the shop. Me and a friend were on a test drive with our sales lady, and we saw the weightless white Evo 8 parked out front. Stopped in, and John was able to answer questions we had about his Evo experience. Props to him for answering my questions, and to Greg for answering my email questions. So, while I am in the market for an Evo 8 MR, I will be surfing around the boards here, searching and soaking up as much info as I can on this beautiful, power hungry car. Thanks, Steve |
Don't do it, they're too fast!

Haha, I knew someone would post that comment.
Fortunatly, I think that I have some pretty good racing background. Ive autocrossed a 3500lb car for the past year, I also race at my local drag strip, etc, etc. Yes, the Evo MR is a fast car, but it is also able to be driven just like any other normal, low HP car out there. I may only be 21, but people think Im 25-26. My Passat has gone through some extensive modifications. Ive custom made my own intercooler setup, done my own suspension upgrades, repaired the car after a wreck, and much more. For a 1.8T engine, making 225hp at the crank, I managed to get a 10.39 in the 1/8 mile (no 1/4 tracks around here) which is pretty good for a car of its low hp, and heavy stature. Its all good though, I've learned alot so far the past day that I've been here, so Im bound to absorb even more. |

Hahaha, yes. Its been hard, but I've been able to find some good stuff about suspensions, and some other things. |
Good to see that you signed up Steve. You'll get a lot more answers to your questions as opposed to SCR.com.

Exactly, I left the 1.8T forums over there because there was no helpful info months and months ago. Hasnt changed. Im sure in no time, I will be an Evo guru, maybe. {thumbup} |
If you can live without the extra gear get a VIII. You'll save a good amount of money that you can use for mods. MR or VIII you can't go wrong with either one.

hahaha another dubber leaving the euro scene for the jap scene...i dont' miss my 1.8T at all...no regrets... too many probs with my Getta...too many gremlins...main probs with the dubs are that we try and push them to limits they weren't designed for.
evo 8 ...get it...asap...handling ...to die for, speed ...to die for ...driving in the rain...no problems... |
Get the Evo, it the best decision I've ever made. I test drive lots of car, but none compare to the EVO.
