Howdy Ya'll
 
Hi there

My name is David. I am in the process of getting an Evo. I am still deciding to get either and Evo 8 or get an Evo 9. 5 speed or 6 speed. I'm trying to learn. I don't want to make mistake, because this car will be with me for a whiiiiiile. So help me out yo!! :lol:

The car will be mainly daily driven. I go to the track may be five times a year, and it's just 1/4 mile track. I'm hoping a well rounded daily driver and may be low 12's high 11's 1/4 mile time. Thanks

That would be easier with a IX......

get the IX se, with the SE you get all the nice upgrades that are on the MR but a much better tranny

So the SE would have the 5 speed or 6 speed tranny? And is it '06 or '07 model? Thanks

The SE is basically a "watered down" MR. SE is 5-speed, MR is the only 6-speed. SE is only a 06. There wont be anymore Evos after 06. 08 (or 09) is the next Evo coming up: The X

david i would go evo 8....if you want mid to low 12-high 11's i would go Buscher 20G turbo, ic piping, bigger fmic, fuel pump, injectors,3'' turboback exhaust, a good managment (aem ems). minor head work (cams,springs,retainers) ported exhaust manifold, and a clutch of course... you can stay stock turbo if you really wanted, i have a friend with this setup but stock turbo on 25-26 lbs running high 11's

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. From what I heard, the Evo 9 will be better choice because of the Mivec head. Is this correct? or does it even matter?

If your just looking for high 11s to low 12s get the IX. People are breaking into the 11s with just a tbe, mbc, and flash with the IX
