Can't shift at high RPM's ???

For about a month now, i haven't been able to shift at high rpm's (7-7.5k). I mean i can shift but i have to really jam it into gear. it's killing my shift times. should i adjust my clutch? or should i get all those dang bushings (underhood bushings, shifter bushings, etc) ? i can shift quick still til about 6500rpm but beyond that it gets annoying. anyone? thnx

Here we go again... It would help to know what kind of clutch you have and if it's an ACT HDSS, search! In fact search anyhow, as this topic has been beaten to death in the past..

What clutch do you have?

Actually not yet, knock on wood  I'm on my 2nd ACT HDSS and never had any high RPM shift problems albeit I don't race all the time, only on occasion.

Adjust the clutch and pray its not a synchro! Does it do it in any paticular gear or just every gear at high RPM?

I have an ACT MB7 HDSS w/ prolight flywheel with about 1500 miles on it. I hav,nt even had to adjust my pedal yet, and it shifts smooth as glass right to 7800 rpm,s. If installed correctly you should have no problems with this set-up at all. I have my pedal adjusted to stock specs.3-5 MM free play at the top, res. pill removed wityh a SS clutch line and 2 piece underhood brass bushings.

why are you pushing the car so far into the red??? I hope your at least re-tuned!

speedfreak0920 Mar 10, 2007 02:22 PM

i'm def. tuned. i have an exedy clutch. it's doing this with all gears.

evo542 Mar 10, 2007 02:31 PM

time to swap the clutch

dubbleugly01 Mar 10, 2007 02:37 PM

9 times out of 10, it's the clutch assembly (including flywheel). Either something is warped, or you balled up the friction material so that it's not releasing smoothly. Both cause from excessive heat/slipping.

Warrtalon Mar 10, 2007 02:55 PM

Adjust the clutch rod out.

3SgteGuru Mar 10, 2007 03:11 PM

thats weird, I used to have problems shifting at low RPMS. I stoped being a panzy ass and now I just rip the **** out of it. Its soo much easier to shift at 7K than 5K.

Evo_Wanted Mar 10, 2007 03:17 PM

if you have the clutch but without the after market flywheel usually causing that.
mine is the same act clutch and no after market flywheel

joeMama Mar 10, 2007 03:28 PM

yeah check that clutch
