Evo IX's price drop?

How much would you expect to see the Evo IX's drop in price once they release the Evo X? Thanks

Jakeg97 May 16, 2007 03:11 AM

i dont think the price will drop at all
but it all depends on how well the 10 does perform

sblvro May 16, 2007 04:34 AM

even if the 10 performs well, the competition got faster and better and the IX is hard act to follow.

evo9 mr is gonna hold the value like supra TT.
i wish evo holds value around $25 gs after 10years from now~

That's a big wish, haha. Maybe a perfect condition one with low miles would be worth $25K, but I doubt it.

I doubt the Evo will become a collectable but I doon't think the values will tank when the X comes out. The reasons being are that the X is very different from previous Evos and the engine does not have the proven track record of being able to deliver amazing HP and take large amounts of abuse. It will be like reinventing the the wheel in terms of tuning. Now if the the X is a real dissappointment to its target market and doesn't create a new market for itself, then then the earlier Evos might do better but don't count on it. The Supra and Porsche 993 are very unusual examples.

My guess is that it will depreciate just like the Evo VIII did and at the same rate and continue to do so.

I think that the Evo X is going to be different enough that the values won't drop much. Some people will want the IX just like people love the old GSX versus newer eclipses.

If by a 'price drop' you mean the price of a new IX, I think it may be hard to find new IXs at the time of the X's release, which I believe is at least 8 months away.

shivaswrath May 16, 2007 08:28 AM

it depends completely on how the 4B11 tunes. . .

the 4G63 with or without MIVEC, ESPECIALLY with the advent of the FP Green(20G9-LT, whatever you wanna call it), are easily putting down mid-to upper 300's awhp. . .and that's for less than $3k in mod's. . . NO TUNER CAR can do that right now. . .

Bear in mind Evo X mod prices will be high since most companies need to recoup R&D costs earlier in the development cycle, so demand for Evo 8/9's will be around until the Evo XI or XII come out. . .

Brijen123 May 16, 2007 08:32 AM

I actually think that the IX's will hold value pretty well since they only made them one year and they are the only 4G63 Evo with Mivec and not to mention all the other features that were exclusive on the IX like the front end, Tail lights and Headlights and lets not forget the SE model. :)

evolved83 May 16, 2007 08:38 AM

i don't believe that they will drop. I think that dealers will mark up the prices all the way up till they sell out

PedroMartinez May 16, 2007 09:17 AM

Evo's are going to be a rare car. still 10 yrs from know. not many were produced...
