Recognizing mods

i bought a used and modded evo 9 MR (i know it's not recommended.. )

the thing is, the used car dealership had no idea what the previous owner had put in it. in fact they told me it was stock and the warranty was still valid. It's obvious, though from first look that fujita intake piping is installed.. and the exhaust is TBE with no cat converter. oh and also tinted windows

i know they lied to me but i think i paid pretty good price for it and the car was in good condition (i had it inspected by a third party) so i bought it anyway

my question is.. do you know of any visual tells for any other mods? i don't think i can spot any more mods and i think it would be good to know what's already installed for the future when i'm comfortable with the evo and want to start modding it more. maybe i'll just take it to a tuner or someone who knows.. opinions?

Check your boost and make sure that it boosts right a common thing is when people put back the boost solenoid from a manual boost controller they don't reinstall the pill and it only boosts to about 11-14psi.

How much did you end up paying for it?

Other then the obvious differnet color of most aftermarket parts, that's about it. Try going to the dyno and see what's it putting down. May give you a good idea of what mods could or are in it.

Yes, check the solenoid too.

thanks for the replies. i ended up paying 28k for the MR.. and they installed new brake pads and tires... which by the way were probably the cheapest ones that fit the size. you know used dealerships:crap:

i'm not actually sure how to locate the boost controller.. but i'll definitely ask when i visit a dyno. somewhere.
hopefully i'll find a nooby-friendly place in socal

Good luck man, try asking some of the local evo clubs. I don't know the link, but they have a socal evo club.

at wide open throttle what is your boost gauge reading? i would try and meet up with another evo member in the area and have them look at it.

+1. Get some good shots of the engine bay, interior, behind the car and underneath if you can.

I don't know of any OC Tuners but in Colton (IE about a Hour from Irvine) theres a shop called Tuning Technologies they gotta AWD dyno they could probably help.
