Low 11's with Stock Turbo??!!

I was flipping through some of the drag slip times on the forum and say some guys(more power to 'em) hitting low 11's with the stock turbo. I didnt think that was possible?? What boost are they running and im assuming MAYBE theyre running stroked 2.5 L? I thought after 26psi the stock turbo starts running out of steam?! Just wondering. Great times though

eve-slow Mar 7, 2008 05:33 AM

2.5 is too big. But the low 11 cars are running more than 26psi.

gixxerman11 Mar 7, 2008 05:39 AM

2.5 is to big lol

I m not running low 11s yet but I have stock bottom end and stock heads at the track I am only spiking 27psi. So its really has a lot to do with the tune and the driving. But you dont need an expensive built to make it.

I was just wondering what supporting mods you would need with the stocker to hit those #'s.

The keys to hitting low 11s on the stock turbo are to maximize the efficency of your car. Be sure to do mods that help the stock turbo, not hurt. Make sure that your tune is near perfect, because without good tuning all the mods are worthless. Using race gas or meth are def a great idea for your cars safety however as proved by a couple of people they are not technically needed. The last key factor is weight. Weight reduction does affect the cars performance, and is free. Personally I dont go crazy with it but some does help.

The largest influence on your ETs is your skill. The better driver you are the lower your times will be. This only comes with practice.

Personally I ran an 11.7 on stock turbo and 93 octane boosting about 23 tapering to 21 by redline. This is a good ET, but not great. With race gas, raising the boost, retuning the car, and practicing some more I hope to hit sub 11.5 sec passes this summer.

Ok assuming im the worlds best driver for the day(which of course im not) with my mods listed below....and 22psi holding...where do you think id be with those times....or trap speed even better....ROUGH ESTIMATE of course....i know weather track conditions driver etc matter

What numbers did you put down with everything in your sig? That might help a little since all cars are different. I would guess mid to high 12's. for a VERY good driver maybe 12.3-.4 but doubtfull.

mike1023 went like 11.2 with a stock turbo .. stock motor .. and that **** is gutted. power to weight ratio is the advantage in his case.
