Did the Evo X hurt the 9's Resale
 

Alright so for starters i sold my 2005 Evo MR GG i had some mods done to it. First i sold it because its my summer car and im going to be away on business all summer. Also i wanted to get a EVO 9 with mivec! which from what ive heard is much more responsive to Bolt ons and are faster if you plan on keeping the stock turbo.

So into my story

I bought my evo may last year 38K for $23,500
sold it a lil bit ago with 49K for 23,500

SUPER good resale value.

Anyways i thought i might get an evo 9 this time next year. i was hopeing the X would bring 9 prices down.

Anyone know if this is happening at all? and if not anyone think that it will?

there is a thread on here about evo 8 and 9 prices rising actually. they are becoming the new DSM's.. similiar to how alot of people look for the older 1g and 2g dsm's the evo 8 and 9s since they don't make them anymore are now in higher demand and will increase as time increases

Nope, prices have not dropped a penny since the x came out. The reason you see other cars drop in value when the new generation comes out is because the older generation loses demand. Most older generation cars depreciate 10-15% right after the release of the the new gen. The reason why the evo viii/ix have not gone down in price since the x released is because the demand has not dropped. I hope this helps.

But do you think it will stay that way? I mean yes the 4g63 is a cast iron block. Capable of bigger HP figures without a doubt, But the X has been proven to be more nimble and quicker around a track "Stock Trim"

All im saying is how many evo owners do you think are looking for 400+ WHP i mean sure you and i would love that but if you look at the majority of the people i believe most would only feel comfortable doing light mods such as TBE intake Tune.

And correct me if im wrong but from what im hearing there having good results with power on the X with simple bolt ons.

Myself when it comes time ill probably be looking for a 9 not a X but im just saying to the average buyer it seems like the X would be worth the upgrade.

If them going up means hurting them.. then yes.

I may not have proof but I know that the Evo 8's & 9's resale prices are not going down. The last generation evo is just that special car that not everyone can get their hands on. It still turns car fanatics upside down because of its raw performance and handling. It will always be an important car for Mitsubishi. I know that the prices will not go down, but they in fact could rise in resale value. :updown:

I think the release of the X will only make the prices of the IX and VIII go up. Its more of a performance feeling car, closer to its origins.

^Dont get me wrong, i'm not trying to start an EVO IX vs X debate, but every timed "stock trim"comparrison shows the X to be slower around the track. Maybe you could post a link to prove me otherwise cause i'm curious to find the truth.

the x brought back the attention/demand back for all evos, that is why the prices are up.. simple ecomonics. Good time to sell your ix and buy a x if you want to go that route.

i think the prices are probly gonna drop down later.

The info that im getting is just from Car/driver road and track and motor trend. They tested both of them around tracks and found the X MR to be faster then the 9 MR.

I think that the price will drop a little bit but will hold around upper teens i dont see Evos going cheaper then that.

A dealer offered me $11,000 for my 03 Evo VIII (31,4xx original miles not including 2.3 stroker) yesterday. I about fell out of the chair in hysterics.

see idk if there gona hold there value to the open public sure to the hard core racer but theres only so many of us out there and its gona be hard to find a diehard that is looking at your car when it comes time to sell.
