LICP's Make Gains?

If you install a LICP, will you make any gains? If so, what gains can you make? And does it make a difference in where the pipe bottlenecks? Because the Nisei LICP bottlenecks right at the coupler but the PPI LICP bottlenecks before that.. So do you guys have a suggestion on which I should get? Thanks in advance NCE.

Hmm... that picture of the Nisei pipe is not Nisei. Their LICP's are one piece design, that one looks like 3 pieces welded together, and the Nisei LICP has a bracket for additional support, that one doesn't. Maybe that's ETS?

There's been discussion on whether the taper in the pipe makes a difference. My opinion is the more flow, the better. But, in the end the difference is probably negligble.

it felt like my car spooled a little quicker with my LICP installed, maybe thats just my imagination though. i put on an AMS btw, i cant say anything about power gains for certain though

Get an ETS they look alot nicer in my own opinion

The bottle necking closer to the turbo might actually help if you think about it. Your still on the stock turbo so you don't wanna throw a huge pipe on down there and lose the velocity. No doubt though I've only heard good things from people that do the LICP.

licp will increase spool and hp. check out the modding for noobs thread.

Nisei is one of the best. i highly recommend them. i also like buschur and ETS. however, only Nisei has a bracket like stock, to hold it in place in case the hoses pop off under boost.

You my friend have saved me a lot of reading!

There are no dyno gains that prove any difference.

Having upgraded lower intercooler piping may result in a small power gain. It will help, but it will make a minor difference....most especially if you're just starting off with your mods. There are other mods that make a bigger difference compared to replacing the lic piping. I would take it step by step and do the most significant mods first, and then replace the lower lic piping in the future. {thumbup}

Don't worry about getting one that has the mounting bracket. As long as you secure the piping with some strong clamps (t-clamps) it won't pop off. I have the PPI licp and ETS uicp along with their 3.5" intercooler and love them all. If I had to do it over again I would have bought the ETS licp to match the uicp though.

Agreed. I haven't seen any, either. An aftermarket product retains the stock I/O diameters regardless of manufacturer. A LICP can, however, slightly improve the flow by providing a smoother path. At the same time, a LICP can also allow for turbulence, depending on the location of the I/O restriction, slightly limiting the airflow. I always wonder how many similar products ever saw a flowbench in their development. This said, these factors are minor relative to mods that make power.
