Get the Power Agency or HKS. The HKS is a bit loud though.

are they cat backs? ar axle backs?

mmartahus Nov 16, 2008 01:09 PM

I have the same car and just got an RRM axleback, its in transit to me now, i will try and do a review/video when I get it installed next week

cr450f Nov 16, 2008 10:04 PM

what are some of the louder exhausts out there? i don't know if i like the rrm axleback's sound.

Yeah, almost everyone I've seen on here that has the HKS say it sounds almost stock.

I think just about every exhaust (except the Injen SES) for the 08+ Lancer is an axle-back. I guess the stock exhaust piping is already 2.25" and with minimal bends, so there's no need for a cat-back. The most restrictive piece is the muffler and the cat(s).

There are plenty of videos of exhaust on youtube, just search "08 Lancer Exhaust" or something similar. Although I wouldn't base your idea too strongly from videos on youtube due to compressed audio, and the quality of the camera that initially recorded the video can make it sound much different than it really is.

My recommendation if you want one of the best performing, nice and loud exhaust; would be the WORKS axle back. It doesn't have a muffler so it's the lightest (if that matters) and probably the loudest aftermarket exhaust available (not including custom Axle-backs with universals).

stock piping is 2" id

there's also the magnaflow cat back which is less then the injen. There are sound clips on their website, however the installation requires you to cut the stock exhaust after the cat.

It sucks that mitsubishi didnt aim for a higher HP/TQ number with retuning the exhaust piping for the slightly bigger engine. I assumed it was lack of budget

HKS sounds stock. BARELY noticeable difference. Looks good tho

cr450f Nov 17, 2008 01:17 PM

what is the website that the works' exhaust is on?

slaker138 Nov 17, 2008 02:59 PM

if u have the money and want a catback though i say get the magna flow catback, they usually have that nice deep tone, and its also loud, but not too loud, if i had the money, i would get that

I posted the link earlier lol.

Ah, I was told by my local exhaust shop that it was 2.25" when I had them check it out to see what they could do. Could be wrong though, I've never seen anything official that says what size it is.
