New to Evo's, not the 4g63

Hello everyone! Just as the title says, I bought my first EVO about a week ago and I'm in love! Something about the feel I have driving it creates the attraction. It could be the way the seat hugs you in every corner, the AWD Mitsubishi has generously placed under my feet, or the fact I feel I now have a reliable car over 300hp.

I have been in the DSM scene for over 3 years now and know first hand that the 4g63 is the replacement for displacement. I bought my first DSM back in august of 2005. It was a 95 Eclipse GS-T with about 97k on it. Over the years I threw a bunch of money into it between adding performance parts and replacing onces that I've destroyed from shear power.

3 days before I left for the Air Force, the motor crankwalked. For some, this might be the worst thing that could happen. For me, it was a great reason to build it the way i wanted. I jumped online and had a 2.3 stroker kit sent to my door. While in basic training and tech school, I had the motor rebuilt, ready and waiting for me to drop in as soon as I got leave between bases. I dropped the motor in, broke it in, and put a simple base tune in the AFC. It was the first time it pulled and actually scared me. It was at that moment I fell in love all over again. I became humble and learned to respect this car for what it was. Even after the 3 clutches, 3 trannies, the engine, and all the other BS that broke while owning it, as well as the massive amount of downtime on jackstands, I have no regrets or bad memories of my DSM.

It was getting to the time to move on. With over 15k invested, and every bolt turned at least once on the eclipse turning me into an overnight mechanic, I decided to take the step from the underdog vehicle, to the beast everyone already know is fast, also my dream car. I didnt want to sell the car outright with the economy being so screwed up, and didnt want to deal with random kids test driving my baby risking it breaking. I traded in the car and took a massive hit, but it was worth it.

Im now here, starting from scratch with a new car, on a new forum. I will try my best to help out where I can and be a positive contributor to the EVO community. Posted below was my eclipse and my new toy. Once a DSMer always a DSMer:mitsu:
Thanks for the read!

wow...good trade IMO. Nice 2nd gen eclipse. What plans do you have for this one? That is a sexy evo by the way. Love the angle of the pics.

Well opposed from the little thats already on the car, I think a set of HKS 264/272 cams are in order. I really want a c/f hood and lip but if I have and extra grand for that I'll probably end up buying a new intercooler instead. I keep telling myself I'm not going to mod it that much but most likely I will.

Sounds like a good start...I am the same way with cars I think this is good for me but then I get on the internet and the next thing I know there's money missing from my bank account. Good luck with everything.

GSC is like 10 mins from my base. Im actually going there tomorrow. Those guys are pretty cool. I was going to have them tune the eclipse but when i got the money, they changed shops and their new one dosent have a dyno. I walked in the old shop and there was 2 evos, an sti, a 240 with an sr20 and a single turbo supra just kicking it. *jaw dropped*. it was pretty crazy. yeah i want some kelford cams, we will see what i have money for.

Well if anyone wants a stroked 2g hit up charleston mitsubishi. i think they want 6500 for it. its a steal for whats done to it. I was faster than my evo. Id rather have it go to a tuner anyway.
